Giuseppe Santomaso (1907-1990) was a multifaceted Italian artist, renowned for his work as both a painter and a printmaker. His artistic journey included creating numerous graphic works, etchings, and lithographs that showcased his unique style and vision. Santomaso created his first graphic works in 1938, marking the beginning of his exploration in printmaking. In 1952 he participated in the experience of the Group of Eight (Afro, Birolli, Corpora, Moreni, Morlotti, Santomaso, Turcato, Vedova), also called abstract-concrete. In 1954 he won the International Painting Prize at the Venice Biennale. In 1960 there was a solo exhibition of his work at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. In the meantime, the artist continued to produce graphic works. He contributed lithographs to On Angle, a book of Ezra Pound’s poetry published in 1971. His work was exhibited at the International Engraving Biennial in Cracow in 1972 and 1978.  This lithograph ‘Rossi in contrasto’ is a part of his notable works, showcasing his unique style. The piece was printed by Erker-Presse in St. Gallen, with an edition of 100 copies and 30 hors commerce prints.
